These are pics of a trailer I just completed for a Urban Farm Project for them to haul produce to a food bank.
The head of the project gave me the plans that he printed off of Howtofixbikes.com .I didn't stay to the plans because I needed to make sure it would be strong enough. It's a little heavier than the plans but it pulls great. Also I spent less than $20.00 in it total. The hitch in the pics isn't permanent because this is not the bike that will be pulling it.

I haven't done it myself but I've heard it's easy to strip down a kiddie trailer like the one listed below and stick a Rubbermaid storage box on it. That or keep it like it is, the zippered sides would keep stuff from falling out and also protect your groceries from flies.

these should give you some ideas for some cheap trailers and get you away from being dependent on a car. Up in Fort Collins, there is a group that picks up recyclables on their trailers. Newspapers, cans, that kind of stuff. They even help folks move to new apartments. I once saw a picture of one of the guys moving a full-size refrigerator on one of the trailers.

I got one last summer and used wood from work they toss out. I take it to the beach with chairs and a cooler, went to the grocery store yesterday, and picked up my new Craftsman shopvac monday after father's day. It's purdy handy, and somewhere I seen a canoe hooked up to a MTB. Here's last October's pumpkin pick-up :D

I just got this one off of http://www.Freecycle.org for free. My daughter is still small enough to fit in it so it's just gonna stay like this for a while. 3 and still only 28 pounds (was a preemie), but as soon as she is too big for it, I plan on breaking it down to make it more utility.
