This is not original thinking. Various people doing it with PVC pipe and copper, but thought I'd post anyway. Why spend $27 on this:

brass punches work good also and never had a problem damaging cups either. Not to mention you can pick up a variety pack of them for pretty cheap. Something like this.

The only bike specific tools I own are spoke wrenches, crank arm remover and some tire levers. Besides that, I use just normal tools and make them work on thing that might need a specific tool(freewheels, threaded bottom bracket cups and fixed gear cogs). I foresee myself picking up a bottom bracket tool as I'm working with road bikes more so now then cruiser style bikes.
 
I just use a brass punch or a piece of pipe that'll fit down the hole.

Coupla taps with the ol' hammer...its rolling around the floor.
