Hawthorne Hercules 3-speed

I found this bike in a building slated for demo and have been having a had time identifying year. It has a three-speed back hub with shifter on the top tube. Any info is appreciated.

Update: Shifter is labelled Benix. Goggle searching resumes.

That's a Hercules, made in Birmingham England. A real Hercules, before Raleigh bought the name, so it's 1960 or older. I've had a few of those English bikes, that black paint will shine nicely with a good cleaning and a couple coats of car wax.
