ever make a skiptooth sprocket?

i was pondering earlier as i sat in the heat of my garage, could you cut every other tooth off of a sprocket, and make it look like a skiptooth? im half tempted to try it out with an extra sprocket and just see what happens. anyone ever done this or have any reasons as to why it wont work? thanks.

Be sure you use an even tooth count! Mutley has one.
