Hey guys. I've been on the boards for a bit, mainly just lurking and looking at other builds. I've built a couple bikes/restored some over the past 4-5 years. Started with fixed gears then worked my way to cruisers. Anyways here is the latest one I'm working on for my girlfriend for her Christmas present.

Picked the bike up the first week of November, this is what it looked like.

Tore the bike apart and then started with the steel wool removing the rust. This is the inner part of the fender, before on the left after on the right.

Put some paint stripper on the tanks, rear fender, and chain guard. (If it was my bike I would have left it like this and just added the lettering and decals and gone for the rat look)

A shot of some of the rust, not too bad.

***Ran into a little problem with the paint, tried to put the accent colors on and lines didn't come out as clean as I wanted. I ended up going to a local vinyl shop to get things done. In turn decided to sand off the white that was on there, when I tried to paint back over it the area where the white was crinkled so I had to take it back to bare metal. As of now the chain guard and rear fender have primer again and the tanks have the color on them. Will update within the next few days.

Re: Coast King Restore

Wow! looks great so far...I am a sucker for cheap Huffy made bikes. Have two myself. A men's Coast King El Camino and a ladies similar to yours. Also working on a Huffy Rail with my son.

Re: Coast King Restore

Just a couple small things. Finally rolling on it's own accord. Just need to install the pedals. Also got the paint on the chain guard and rear fender today, I'll wait a week for the paint to cure then decals and clear. The coaster brake gave me a bit of issues today, but it is functional and working.

Be back in about a week for updates.

Re: Coast King Restore

Where did you get the Coast King decals? I would be interested in some for my El Camino.

I had them custom made at the local sign shop. I still have 1 more in white if you are interested in it cheap. Otherwise she charges $20 for a minimum order. I could also send you my scanned file and you could get it made whatever color you want.

Re: Coast King Restore

I am interested in anything cheap... PM me with details.

Re: Coast King Restore

Got the LEDs installed and everything is dry and cured from the clear coat.

Had some issues with the rear fender. I opted to go with a wider tire size so had to widen the rear, but finally got the wheel in after a couple hours of fooling around. Will update tomorrow as I should make a decent amount of progress. Girlfriend is out of town till Sunday so I plan to have it all done by then.
