I needed a good straight old cruiser for around the neighborhood.

I found this rusty and neglected 59 Speedster which was just what I wanted- straight and unmolested:

I gave it a good blaster soak and it came right apart with no drama. I am a big fan of oxalic acid now. It did an unbelievable job on the rusty chrome.

I found some S-7 whitewalls and some real "chubby" schwinn script grips. My favorite thing is the seat post. I'm 6' 2" and now feel like I actually fit the bike!

Please disregard the fancy GPS mount:

The oxalic acid did an unbelievable job on the bars, cranks, stem, sprocket etc...

On the wheels, I went old-school and used naval jelly which I brushed onto the rims and then lightly scrubbed with a brass brush.
They turned out great, but it ate the finish (nickel?) off the spoke nipples so they look brassy now.
