Search Craigslist for a good donor bike, I normally part out Walmart bikes to build my better frames. I just got an aluminum framed Trek and I love it. Just wish it was a bit shorter.

Make friends with your LBS. See if they will give you a discount if you build it up. If we were in the same area, I would do that for you.
