Bottom Bracket Bearing Cups

I am in the process of putting a new BB and crank on my 50s Road Master. The new bearing cups I bought went on REALLY easy... as in just sit in there. I put everything together and it seems to operate fine, but I was under the impression that the bearing cups are hard to get on and fit very tight.

Is it a problem that mine don't? I've not ridden it yet because it's not finished, but it does seem to be tight once together.

I assume you installed a whole new BB? As long as the BB matches and there is not rattling of the cups, You should be okay.

New everything... I was just ready for it to be MUCH more difficult, but the cups just sat in there until I got everything else on.

One thing you can do with press in bearing cups that are just a little loose is to use a little loctite bearing and sleeve retainer.

Or a little bit of metallic HVAC tape. :wink:

beer can soad can any alloy can even cat food could make a nice shem. that would take up the space nicely.

Drink more beer, you can recycle the cans on to bikes!
Beer cans, then next duct tape!
