So I finally got my dream bike 1990s Westport Murray. It was in bad shape but now its looking pretty good. I already did a lot of work on it so here it goes;

4/8 Got bike! Added air to its tires and rode two miles to wal-mart. To pick up new tubes and some paint. Left it at my friends place for the time being.

4/11 Picked bike up from his place and found ants in the seat so removed seat.

4/12 Tape all holes shut and got the seat off. Later put back on and rode it some what.

4/13 Add pegs to rear. Why? Because I can and they look good. Took trail riding(Rocks, Mud, and Water). More ants came out.

4/14 Kill ants hopefully. Okay all ants are dead. Got an old fake gas tank from a roadmaster jr. Got a new front rim because rust was eating a big hole in the rim. Also got a new tire with mountain bike tread on it. Then got a quick release for the seat. made back of rear fender wider

4/18 Took pedals apart and cleaned out old oil and put new oil in. Feel a LOT smoother when riding. Rear tire ripped apart and inter tube just blow out but it made it a mile before it blew out so thank you bike 8)

When I just got it home:

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-bulid)

HAHA your pics of your place reminds me of my apartment. Bunch of grease circles on the carpet from bearing cages, at least 2 bikes per room, one in the tub being wet sanded/ degreased, parts all over the counters and tables. LOL

Using the tub to clean bikes that's smart  I just do the rag and bucket of water.

Also today Nothing got done too rainy and tomorrow so far looks like nothing will get done with thunder storm in the forecast and a Four mile-to-get-there bike ride.

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-bulid)

So whats ur plan with this one. You gona do a resto or turn it into something crazy?

Just a restore of it. My plan is to find some blue paint. Then use some old black I have for detailing. I just need to find the blue that is in my head. The bike awesome tho it sits on 26 inch mountain bike tires and rims. But I keep getting ideas for head lights and rear lights. My ideas are always changing

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-bulid)

Great job...keep it rat...

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-bulid)

4/20 It did not storm like the weather said it would :D . So I biked 16 miles and got a tire to match the front tire. So tomorrow it should no longer have a flat tire. Also I'm going to leave the chain guard red because it look great red on blue.

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-bulid)

4/21 Put the new tire on the bike and filled it up with air. Found out that rim is out of shape.

Thanks. When I got it, it didn't have anyway of looking it up because someone had pained over everything

4/22 Got new chain for the bike and chain breaker.

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-build)

4/23 Got more paint for the bike. I had four cans of spray can paint that is until my friend shot an arrow into the can and it blew up. So down to three cans, but that's still a good amount. Also removed some more of the old paint

Yea because your great with sanding the paint down I can't say focus when I do that. Hopefully tomarrow is nice out :|

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-build)

4/25 Painted under side of seat flat black. Had bikemaster come down and sand some.

4/26 Today was bad blew out third rear tire with in a month :x

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-build)

4/28 It did not ride too badly in the afternoon so I worked on the bike some. First got rust off of pegs and painted them flat black and gloss true blue :D . So the bike with have gloss true blue base coat with flat black detailing once paints all off

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-build)

5/2 Took seat apart and painted flat black. Then friend came over and sanded down most of the front fender and part of the body. Painted rear fender and chain guard blue. The last thing added was a new chain that's a little to long but if I take a link out it's too short.

Re: Big Blue ( First ever re-build)

Do you have a rim tape/ribbon covering the spoke nipples on your back wheel? Or is one protruding? You shouldn't be eating that many inner tubes! As for the chain, you can't pull the wheel farther back in the dropout? or take a link out and move it forward?
