Hey guys,
When I finished the trike (48 Dually) I got a bad itch to build another bike right away. Heard the rumor that FireBikes may be selling and I'd had my eye on one of the fluid frames for a couple of years now. So I bought one just in case I may never get a chance to in the future.
I told my wife I would take a year to build it, but once it arrived I couldn't control myself. The frame came powdercoated black and I searched for a theme for the bike. I always thought one of the fluids would look nice built up pro street. So I started with that angle and went from there. I found a local pinstriper through word of mouth. He pinstriped it for me in traditional rat rod design. (He's an older gentleman who has been doing it for over 40 years. He's done bikes for Jesse James and ran with the likes of Roth.) After a week of riding it, people are calling it the bat bike and the name seems to have stuck.
There's a mixture of motorcycle and bicycle parts in it. A super wide fork from the Chopperdome allowed me to drill through the top crown for risers. Then I powdercoated the handlebar and crowns black to match the frame. The geometry on the bike is practically perfect. You can ride it all day long and get tremendous tork by pulling on the handlebars and pushing on the pedals.
My wife says that's it for now! No more bike building for me for a while!!! (But my fingers were crossed! ha ha!)
