Well here is my 66 Breeze I got last week. I am no expert in detailing bikes like Ratrod and Hooch but I cleaned here up pretty good from this...

I still need to put on new brake lines and shifter cable

Nice job. I'm always amazed by how beautiful old Schwinns look after a good cleaning.

what about using the original clamp and flipping the seat post?....small end in the frame..
 
It is the wrong type of clamp, you need the old one. It is the shape of the seat frame, compare it with the one that was on the bike (round versus flat). Take your seat with you when you go to the shop, otherwise they just give you this model, which does NOT fit. Best thing is probably to find another seatpost, have one made, weld another top on it....
And if you do use the old clamp, mount it correctly. I couldn't find any better pictures, but see if you can figure it out here:

There are small teeth somewhere, that should connect to keep it in place.
Using a different seat is not an option.
