Barn find—lady said her son parked it 15 years ago and it never moved from the side of the shed. Fast forward to today: sprayed off dirt and grime and here it is listed for sale.

Schwinn—SN R38775 (1955 D11—Spitfire)(no evidence of a tank)

Selling as is: Bike looks cool in current config. Original red paint (faded) and color bleed from red to white however you can still see some of the white markings.

No kickstand--was a detachable model

Seat not original? Mesinger, worn through on horn tip.

Handle bars neck bolt is broken off and wedge piece is present--handlebars come out.—Chrome is flaking—grips not original

Fork rotates and appears straight—three painted white lines still visible.

Chain is rusted and stiff—not even configured. Chain ring turns (but would pull BB apart to check bearings).

Pedals are tough to turn and rubber block are bowed a bit but I think OG.

Wheels spin. Front is scripted Schwinn and spins, rear is new departure and spins. S-7 painted rims—tires are shot (26” x 1-3/4). Would have thought they would be S-2 rims, however tire size reflects the S-7 and didn't focus on finding marking. Rims show wear/patina for age.

Frame has a crack on the bottom side of the top rear support—see photos.
