Does anyone know if some 1953 DX were made without a kickstand? Thanks.

If it does not have a kick stand, one of two things could have happened, #1 some one chopped the kick stand mount off, #2 it could be prewar, Schwinn's welded on kick stands where introduced in 1946 so any thing before 46 had a bolt on kick stands. hope this helps post up the serial number that might help out a little.

That's right, everything was bolt on before 46. But there are a few models, mostly basic, that had bolt on kickstands afterward. I'm still looking for a 53 Schwinn with a bolt on but only see some late 50's and a 1960 bike right now. I'll do a little more research. If someone cut a built in one from the frame, there should be some evidence of damage where it should have been.

Oh ya thats right, I just recently work on a 59 Schwinn Typhoon with a bolt on kick stand.

Thanks Scribble & Wildcat for the info. Its a 1953 for sure I check the serial number there is no damage to the frame so I believe it had a bolt on kickstand.
