recent arrival: 1939/1940 Snyder-built Hawthorne standard twin bar. Picture of the Wards catalog page shown below. Not going to restore this one tho :cool2:
I think a friend can get the lock working, and it looks like the paint might be savable...let's hope!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Super jealous!!!

Thanks folks! As of now I'm thinking:
  • get lock working
  • straighten what needs straightening
  • overhaul headset
  • modern drivetrain
  • custom saddle
  • heed the advice of @fordmike65 and preserve the crust on the original parts...just leave it be
Might go "California Special", but we'll see what she says when up on wheels, and what about a stand: side or center...:39:
I do think we'll need a chain guard tho

Beautiful frame

I haven't seen that frame before. It looks like a CWC with the curved rear stays, and the illustration is showing shockmaster springers.

So, the curved chain stays are the CWC frames, and the straight chain stays are the Snyder frames.

That's an interesting looking frame. Like John Goodman, kinda ugly, but cool. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
