Finally got the rear rack done today. Did a quick reassembly just to see if these wheels will do.
I like the look. At least for now it's the look.
Who knows what I'll end up with on rims.

I would leave the rims red. Then do a green/red color combo repaint but distressed to fake that patina. I'm about to start a similar project, and if I can fake the funk as good as I did on the repro tank for my 39 Westfield, I will be happy.

That's the beautiful thing about Colsons, since they were a 'boutique' brand (meaning they would supply bikes to any business that wanted to a sell a 'line' of their own), you can use just about any color combo/scheme you'd like and not be 'wrong'. Build it up the way you want (a nice deep green and rim-matching red does sound cool though)
 
I had an original ladies colson in green/red with green rims and it looked great. A resto repaint in those colors would be too festive, but with patina they look nice

yep, colsons are found every year that leave "experts" scratching their heads.

Not ready for a sale yet. I'm really drawn to this bare metal look. At least for now.
Should finish it today and an updated photo shoot.
Then to go show it off on the boardwalk.
Did wipe down with boiled linseed oil yesterday.
I agree that this preservation technique is the wisest vs clearcoating.

Decided to see what the stock painted silver rims will look like on this bare metal theme....hmmmmm,
It too looks good.

Sure you were. You liked them both, either set looks good.
I have more responses from people that say the red gives it more contrast.
I like the silver though. Guess I have to decide that day what mood I'm in.
