Just picked this up. It's been repainted very close to original. Torrington pedals. Anyone know what it's worth as is?

Cool bike!
For a serious collector, it probably has diminished value because of the home repaint. Its only original once! But as a rat rod builder its a good base! Its worth at least several hundred dollars. Good find :D

I would estimate the value in the $200 range. The repaint hurts as well as the fact that the frame style is so common. Also not a lot of the parts that make the earlier bikes are present (toolbox tank, wood or clad wheels, deep spring saddle, crossbar handlebars, etc.) I don't think the light is correct either but is still a prewar light worth a couple bucks.

I would throw the missing parts on it to make it rideable & keep it. But, that's just me. Looks pretty good for a repaint in the pics! 8)

Very cool score!
$ wise its a tuff call.
a 37 ELGIN would've had 26" balloon tires I believe. A few years earlier would've been 28.
To a restorer or customizer Id say 100 clams easy.
200 tops.
sorry, I know that's a big window. Guess it depends on who wants it.
keep it, build it. Its cool.

From the looks of that front fender I think they painted it with a broom. :p Still pretty cool. 8) Gary

36 was the first year for balloon tires on these I was told. I just finished my 36. I think 28's will still fit though.

Yeah it was done with a brush, someone spent a lot of time doing it though. I wish I knew if the original paint was underneath, but I don't want to risk ruining the repaint if nothing is there.
