Got the chain on tonight finally, but of course not without a hitch. Not only did the spring pop off on the derailleur and I had to figure out how it was suppose to go back together. But I also realized I've misplaced the small nut at bottom of derailleur that tightens a clamp against bottom of shifter cable. Anyone know the size of it offhand before I go digging g thru drawers and resorting to trial and error?

Even without that nut, I can't believe the night and day difference between now and 3 months ago (tomorrow) when I was fortunate enough to pick this bad@ss ride up!

Good news is I found a suitable matching nut for the bottom of derailleur! Bad news is I didn't get out today to take pics because my brother decided today would be a good day to start a weekend project of installing our lift in our shop. Thankfully I am off thru Monday! Haha I am excited to get the final pics to submit foe final voting to bring this resurrection to a close!

The original owner's daughter did reply to me today and said her parents are amazed at how well I got it to clean up and look like they remembered it from its original glory days. So that's the ultimate bookend on knowing they approve and are happy they sold it to me. 😎

That is the best award you could get. You have already won the buildoff, the bike is your trophy.

Nice start!

I guess all is fair in Love and Marketplace. It's aggravating when you have a deal and others try to weasel it away. But the worst part is the seller using that to leverage the price higher. If an agreement has been reached, the seller should stick to his/her word.

BTW, I would like to see a couple of pics of the Sears Screamer that you sold also!
So sorry I didn't see this way back when you posted it, but here are pics of the Screamer I brought back to life. I did end up selling it (regretably) as it's probably my favorite bike I've ever owned. I certainly know itd have been an amazing sight to see it next to the Cotton as stable mates. Here are the before and after pics of it for your viewing. 😎
