1965 Phillips Manhattan Girls Bike - Patina and Stripes

I forgot to mention, this was all done in secret in order to give it to her as a surprise. So on Christmas I gave her the saddle (she thought it was for her foldy bike :21:) and then gave her the bike. She liked it a bit :21::dance2: Cue a ride:

1965 Phillips Manhattan Girls Bike - Patina and Stripes

So, after practicing every night after work for 3 weeks, I embarked on the adventure, I took it slow (very very slow), drew a center line where needed and went for it: Note to self, pinstriping on chrome is HARD, the reflection plays silly buggers with the eyes...

1965 Phillips Manhattan Girls Bike - Patina and Stripes

It was always the plan to have some pinstriping done on the bike. A friend of mine who builds custom motorbikes and does some pinstriping wasn't able to do any with his time schedule. So I'd been thinking about starting for years (actually had a brush and a few colours I'd bought a couple years...

1965 Phillips Manhattan Girls Bike - Patina and Stripes

Haven't posted in ages (used to have a Basman, fixed up my first mountain bike as a Guvnor/Clunker hybrid), but I thought it was about time I showed you my latest project. Wanted something special for the girlfriend for Christmas and her birthday (2 weeks apart), so decided to find her a bike...

    Greek Basman :D

A quick update. Fitted an adaptor for BMX BB to 3-piece and a Tange sealed bearing BB and Lasco 44t single (way lighter than the old one piece). Got a 50mm wide rim, Halo spin doctor disk hub, Clark Hydraulic disc brakes (on special offer) and had it laced and fitted. BUT the most important...

My first build: The Greek Guv'nor

As you may know, I have a nice Basman, which is getting nicer and making me nervous about leaving it around town. So time for my first "real" build (no welding, etc.. so its not really a build compared to some of the amazing stuff on here) So enter my first mountain bike, bought in 1990, ragged...

HELP!!!! Recurring flat, 3 times in 3 weeks!!

Well found a closer and better LBS :D He checked the wheel, spokes where loose and with the weight of the Basman he reckoned that was the problem. Bike feels nice and smooth now. I'll be taking the stuff to him for the next modifications. Thanks to everyone for all the help

So rattle-rattle-thud is not a good sound? :D

HELP!!!! Recurring flat, 3 times in 3 weeks!!

The cloth one is pretty narrow, only covers the spokes. The rubber one comes up to the sides. A new development is that I think that the spokes are loose on the wheel, I fitted the wheel from the Sparker and the drivetrain noise (that I thought was coming from a couple sticky links on the...
