The paint is a bit more scratched up then I first thought on the ne Corvette, but not horrible. To me anyway it's right in the middle of "re-paint it" and "shine it and leave it".
Schwinn used really strong paint. You might be surprised how far you can bring it back with a little love. Can't wait to see some more pictures

Got the bike cleaned up, put fenders on it and am now scrounging up replacement brake parts. Rear hub needs to be rebuilt maybe replaced. Don't have a spare on hand so I'm going to temporarily make it a 7 speed bike until I get the rest of the OEM parts I need. Hope to have it all worked out by morning. I'll post pictures when it done.

Well I got the Corvette on the road. Added fenders, replaced the crank and sprocket tires and put aluminum rims front and back it's for now a 7 speed bike. Replaced the break levers, cables and cable sleeves. Everything cam from a I believe 2007 Kent Avalon.

Except the sprocket is from a 1954 Hawthorne. Replaced the seat post, clamp and seat. Those parts are from my parts shed. Rides pretty nice. But as I get original Corvette parts I'll transform it back to it's original state.

Helped some neighbors load a U-Haul truck for their move out of the area and was given the men's Trek mountain bike and the girls Oceanside bikes. The bike trailer was delivered today. Won it in an auction for $35 delivered. Brand new.and I pulled the Troxel seat off of an older Huffy mountain bike along with a Schwinn bottle holder. Looks comfy, haven't seen one like it before.

Ed, that Mercedes is wearing something SUPER RARE. The Amp suspension fork with disk brake is like unicorn poo. You found yourself a treasure there. I would assume that the whole bike is by Amp Research, the rear end looks like theirs as well.

Not saying that asking price is the same as worth, but they're asking a LOT ($1800)!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1862344643...nguard-amp-research-x-mercedes-benz [/QUOTE] Awesome, thanks. Seen the front forks and I was hooked. Honestly, I was surprised that I won it for a little less then my max bid. Thought for sure it would go for more and had decided to up my original bid and just eat ramen for a couple weeks. Won it for considerably less then the prices I've seen online.

The Mercedes was delivered today. Put it back together and took it for it's 1st ride. I have a few adjustments to make especially the brakes. My 1st full suspension bike and my 1st hydraulic disc brakes. Once I get it dialed in it's going to be a fun bike. I'll be taking it apart and going over everything on the bike. And I get to learn about hydraulic disc brakes. I'm Glad I picked this one up for sure.

Last week FedEx delivered this bike. And when the folks I purchased from did not understand how to remove the rear wheel. They did not remove the nut and bolt for the brake arm and instead completely dismantled the Inter M multi condition roller brake and sent all the internal parts in a Ziploc bag after about an hour spent trying to get it back together I put it all back in the Ziploc and ordered a new one on eBay. My new issue is how to adjust the shifter for the Nexus 8 speed hub. The bike has the Shimano Alfine trigger shifter and it's showing that it's in 1st gear and when I attached the cable to the hub it does not shift and I don't know enough about the Alfine shifter to know what gear it should show and how to down shift it without damaging it. Any tips, information or helpful links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, took me awhile to get the hub end of the cable in the correct position to shift from 1st to 4th so I could calibrate it to shift up to 8th. Now that I've done it once shouldn't be any problems in the future. I've got planes to purchase another hub but on a MTB rim, belt drive kit and disc brake for another project/build I've been kicking around in the back of my mind for awhile now.

Took it for a spin around the lot and rides smooth and quiet. Down shifts perfectly, but will not up shift. There is zero tension on the lever's so I'm thinking new cable and cable housing. Either a kinked cable or a gummed up spot in the housing or a bit of both. The LBC here opens in 4 hours and I'll grab both and replace them. May as well replace the brake cables and housings at the same time. May even add some color to it instead of black. I liked the black and gray combo when they 1st came out. But I'm kinda over it. So not going to paint the frame or forks, but everything else I'm replacing with some color.

1969 Gold Raleigh Sport. I'll need to find the correct seat and grips, looks like it has a air pump holder but no air pump. No key for the fork lock, but I was a locksmith for 22 years and can make a key. I won this at auction and can't wait for it to be delivered. Once I have it I'll take better pictures.
