    help on ID for my stingray frame

    Well I checked the ID stamped on the post, indeed it is E500298 The numbers stamped on the Schwinn face plate are 1375, double struck. so the bike was either built on Friday May 17th, 1985 or Saturday May 17th,1975. My bet is 1985, what say you? again, thanks for all the help! bob

    Heres' another picture of the fork. I think instead of selling, this is becoming a good restoration candidate. it may even fit with my Corvairs ! {I have 4 of 'em} and yes, the badge is intact, but it is dark in the garage, I'll look tomorrow for the date code. are decals still available...

    Garty, actually love the sarcasm! ;} my hope was that if the bearings were hot they may have cooled and accordingly shrunk a tiny bit. actually got the problem solved, the nuts securing said hub to frame were way too tight. Loosened and works great now! :D thanks bob

    Thanks for the information, the corrected serial number is E500298. the 8 is barely visible on the post. Just lightly stamped. My camera doesn't want to take a macro of it. G'day! bob

    I picked up a huffy surfside from a neighbor kid who was starting to make it into a bmx bike. He dissembled the coaster brake, then reassembled it when I said I would buy it. Naturally it didn't go back together right. I rode it 2 blocks when the brake froze up. :cry: The wheel wont turn...
