AMF Roadmaster any idea what year?

I've got the same bike with the same sprocket and I remember seeing an ad that said " New for 1958."

What the heck is the bolt called?

7/32"-24 x 2" (Good luck finding threaded rod, I haven't been able to find any!) On my westfield I found at True Value there was what was called I think a drywall or cement expander bolt that was just the right thread pitch and a good length. Must have been that size. I don't know but the guy...

What the heck is the bolt called?

"Chainline adjuster" is what I would guess is the most common. It's gonna be hit and miss on ebay searches thats for sure.

    Tire slipping on rim

You might want to try scuffing up the chrome on the edge of the inside of the rim. One thing I have noticed though that given time the tire will get sticky onto the rim. IOW just don't ride the bike for a while might be all it needs..

    JC Higgins Name?

Ah dang, I want some decals like the ones in the craiglist pic but the sears site doesnt show a picture. I suspect one would get Murray decals vs Jc higgins. I would think that the nameing of this murray bicycle as Jc Higgins is a recent retro move and that there is a very large gap of time...

    Tank for '41 Elgin?

Not mine, I'm a mix and match guy but no Hinkmaster. I've got the same murray built frame as you do with the curved seat tube. I'm almost positive that the curved seat tube model has a longer top bar than the models with the straight seat tube. Mine I bought with the long tank only to find that...

    Columbia Curiosity

Earlier in Columbia history they often fitted thier bikes with more heavy duty parts and called them paperboy specials. 70s era I would bet is correct.

    Gas motors

I'm glad someone else thinks that is a bad idea. I suggested on one of the motored bike forums that I thought doing so was a bad idea and basically what I got back was " I did it and never had any problems." Anyway I hope I didn't discourage the first poster but if somone is going to do it that...

    Gas motors

Mine took about two years to put together. There was no part of the kit that did not need to be massaged in some way in order to make it work properly. I think I probably could have wittled a motorcycle out of titanium with a butter knife in less time. I think the decideing factor is whether or...
