Nice grabs, hope you don't tear apart the men's bike! :D

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceLiner 6/30 Springer Fork Spacer

Picked up a lot of nuts and bolts and stuff at HD last night.

I am still experimenting with proper axle spacers for this unusual springer fork. The ground down washer were a bit rough and I think they were rotating and binding some.

Picked up some 3/8 nylon nuts to try. It is a better thinkness as far as keeping the springer fork off of the big fork. There is plenty of space and I shouldn't have to worry about the wheel moving forward and back because of the interior rocker arms. We'll see.

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceLiner 6/30 Springer Fork Spacer

Made some real progress mounting the 54 Chevy Eagle as my light brace.

Got the new longer carriage bolt hole cut.

WP_002013.jpg

Bolted it down with a jack nut on top. Cinched it in real tight (more on that later).

WP_002014.jpg

Cut out the springer rubber baby bugggy bumper to fit over the nut.

Decided to preload the old springer a bit so I used a couple of jack nuts and a washer. I also added a jack nut higher up to backstop the decorative seat spring.

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceLiner 6/30 Broken Eagle!!!!!!

Well, when I cinched up the carriage bolt, it put a lot of stress on the cron of the eagle and kinda made it bend down a little in the front. I gently tried to lift it up a bit and SNAP !!!!!

Broken eagle!!! :( :x

After a lot of cussing and such, I thought through my options and the eagle isn't dead yet.

Remember the coppertone Exerciser angle iron? Well I am going to put it to good use. I am going to have it be the actual brace on teh fork and then attach the eagle to it. It will be a stronger setup and I really don't lose any length.

Now that I have had a chance to cool down. Time to go back out in the heat and tackle this monkey!!!!!

Oh yeah, and here is the chrome caulk gun I was thinking of using for the light brace.

The 54 Chevy Eagle underwent surgery on his tailfeathers and is resting in ICU tonight.

Thanks for all of the compliments and get well wishes. This is the way it should have been done in first place. So what if the eagle had to lose some tail.

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceLiner 6/30 Eagle Tail Surgery

Here in Savannah it was 96 with a heat index of 111 today, but I felt bad for my little eagle's tail.

Took one of the coppertone testbed struts and cut a chunk out. Drilled and filed mounting holes and test fit it to the eagle.

Then mixed up some JB Weld and set the 54 Chevy Eagle in ICU for the night.

In lieu of flowers or balloons, just send BEER!!!!

Re: █ Flex★Liner⑦ █ TwinFlexSpaceLiner 6/30 Eagle Tail Surgery

I am not to worried about the JBWeld strength because the eagle will be braced by the wings.
Speaking of the wings, I plan to steal one of Yoothgeye's tricks for those.
