So what I have here is a nice bit of American steel, it started when two women came into the Boise Bicycle Project with a Sting Ray I had no clue what year it was or anything about it. They wanted it to be appraised so they could auction it off for charity so I told them what I thought it was worth.
This Ray was in poor condition like it was left in the rain for 30 years of it's life when I looked at it for the first time. Then some how Cman here on the forum got his hands on it, he cleaned it up a little bit then he called me up the next day and ask if I wanted it. I was all over getting a real Sting Ray so he gave me a killer deal for it.
It just sat for a few months. when I saw this build off, I knew it was time to do something with it.
This is the tear down of the bike for the first time:
I was polishing the chrome as I was taking it apart
Ok so now it's time to clean the parts stared with the fork but there were set backs
now for the wheel set I'm using I whet with a 1970's pare of wheels I have the ones that came with the bike but there S-7's so...
after I cleaned them and rebuilt them, also put some new tiers on
here is the rest of the parts i cleaned
Time to put it back together, I had one of my buddy's weld the fork for me came out nice
I'm finely done woooooo I am vary happy with it
