Thank you!
The hardest thing is changing those curves and stay a bit true to the 346 design intent and do my own thing... I want to build it with a top tube. I could not find the 346 "ash" bike:

Just adding a top bar will look cool, also.

The threading would most likely be standard that's not a Raleigh Hercules
I think everything was the same before and after the buyout, except the
bb spindle spacing which is wider on the vintage Raleigh. Raleigh I think had this different spacing. It has the original Hercules spindle. The Hercules crank arms were bent so I used the crank arms and cotters from a 1950s Raleigh’s built Western Flyer hardware store bicycle. Fit perfectly.

One week before we can get that bike monkey off of our back.

What? Did someone say Monkey??😂😂 Sorry, wasn't paying attention since being distracted with something that fell in my lap on 4/21......

I've been looking for a frame to replace a broken Huffy made Western Flyer without much luck until a friend headed to the Midwest Swap in Haysville sends me a text offering this and long tank Shelby before he heads out for Kansas. I balked at first but didn't want to learn the collectors motto again: "The time to buy it is when you find it!"

Parts from this broken bike will transfer over. Others will come from my parts pile.

Full disclosure: since I picked up the bike mid day Friday & had work to finish, there was no way I would be able to focus until I verified the tank would fit.

And dropped a couple chain guards in place from the top of the pile to get a couple ideas & be able to focus on work related activities.

I would like to use this to get back into the big build off but if I have disqualified myself before it starts please let me know.(won't hurt my feeling) I never thought I'd see a Twin Flex in person, much less own one & got a bit excited. Nothing else has been done. Been too busy. Lots of work left for this one & have to check into a seat tube repair that may need more attention but should make a pretty cool rat!

Great image @kingfish254 !! Would love to make a t-shirt of that.🤩😍

Break it down and start over

I am sure you have more planned for this grail find! I don't see this as anything more than rough mock ups. Just break it all down for BO18 and let the real building begin on it. Congrats on your twin flex score. I based my first full build off bike Flex-Liner 7 off of one of those for BO7.

Thanks guys! I felt it would be ok but up front honesty is my policy. It will definitely be resurrected from front to back, top to bottom, inside & out. Extensive parts pile to explore possibilities. Need to look into a seat tube repair the previous, previous owner had done & what needs to happen before I can do anything with it.

Being in Relocations, time during the Summer is scarce, which is why I watch the Build Off when I can. Should have sufficient time to out something decent together in 3 months & have some fun along the way!

Love it!

Thanks! Pretty excited. Still in disbelief although it's been sitting in my living room so I can stare at it & dream since pics were taken.. :43:
I know what you mean.

I have my Shelby frame sitting just outside the back door. Everytime I walk past it I get new ideas.
20230425_103826.jpg

Wide wheels, 8 speed nexus, slightly bigger sprocket, rubbing off that white paint transfer, etc, etc etc

This time of day it almost disappears from the pic.
