nice bikes it was hard to keep it down to just 3...so I voted for them all...:) Just kidding.

This is pretty close at the top, has there ever been a tie?
Not that I know of...I know we have had ties for second place and third place but I don't remember there ever being a tie for first.

Wish I had 81 votes, All are way cool in their own way and there is not a single one I didn't like. Voting was tough, I had to go to the old-school point system like they do at car shows for both categories as I made the list to decide my votes giving 1-10 points in each of 5 categories:

1. Fit and finish: quality of paint work, how all the parts fit together, craftsmanship, the little devils in the details

2. Originality: Did they do something I have never seen before and how well did they pulled it off

3. Overall flow: How the bike looks together, does anything look odd or out of place, do the parts work together

4. Form and function: Does it look comfortable, practical enough to be a daily ride, stuff to snag yourself on

5. How likely I would be to ride it every day: pretty self explanatory...This was the tie breaker between like 5 bikes in anything goes and like 10 in traditional.

Great work everybody and I can't wait to see how everybody tops this next year.

This is going to be a long nail biting exciting week with the packed field of bikes that we have! Good luck to all!
I am humbled with the votes that Firewing has received. Special thanks to anyone that has honored her with a vote.

Smoopys build is just what this site is about

thanks DN for the support but I gotta say..I believe every build posted in this build off is what this site is all about...
It shows just how diverse and creative each and every builder is here..I've had the previledge of watching or participating in all but one of these build-offs and I am always amazed with what folks on here come up with..these are all an extension of our minds & hearts and it shows in every build..thanks to all who like my piece of junk just as much as I do... :D

Couldn't agree with you more Smoops. Both the diversity of the builds and the acceptance of that diversity are what make this forum!!! Pretty much every flavor of bike and style is covered between the two classes of this Build Off. The only thing that is missing is a folding bike.

There was an entry but it didn't make it to the finish. :(

So many great bikes!!! Thanks to who ever gave me that one vote! LOL This was my first build-off. I didn't expect to win, but my wife's reaction to the Fair Lady was all the prize I needed!!!

I did

Slow start on Nightmare Before August (AKA Uneasy Rider), but I had as much fun this year as in the past two others. I was pleased with the outcome of my build after it was all said and done. Must say that my favorite part about this year was watching my wife learn and build her first bike ever, The Throwback. She did a bang up job and the results were amazing in my book. Thanks to Jats and Momma Jats for the back and forth banter between the two married couples as well

I have to say that I am supprised "Stock isn't" #63, hasn' t recieved more votes. In my opinion it is the nicest, cleanest, best executed build of the whole competition. I wish it was in the AG catagory. In my mind the type of mods it has, fit the AG catagory better and I didnt vote for it, but if there is a "best of show" prize, I nominate #63 "Stock isn't".

I agree about Stock Isn't. I think some voters only look at the finished photos and don't dive deeper into the build threads to see the amount of work that goes into some of the bikes. Panelman did some amazing work on that bike.

My votes are cast.....too hard! Special recognition should go to The Kingfish for not only building a sick bike, but in encouraging others, and offering praise to other competitors. That's what this is all about. Man, the ideas in this BO were over the top...

In the end, the spotlight will be on the top 3 or so, but even in those with the least votes, you will see nice, clean, well executed bike that were built with a lot of heart. Unfortunately, they all can't be winners in the poll, but everyone who built a cool bike is a winner.

I agree that its a clean, gorgeous looking bike. The trouble is - to me - that it still looks like it could be a factory bike, even though it isn't. On one hand, I applaud the effort that it took to pull off that level of finish. On the other, I was voting for which bikes that I felt best categorized a rat rod bike. A big emphasis on the which I felt part, as I know my view of this isn't universal. That goes for many of the bikes that are here as well. They all took time, effort, and vision to build. They all represent what the builder wanted in terms of cool bike that they'll be proud of, so in those terms, every one is worthy of praise. But only some of them are, in my own view of things, rat rods. The others fall into other classes of customization. And that drove how I chose which I voted for. That's just how I see it, and that by no means diminishes or is meant to diminish the level of effort that went into all of these bikes under any circumstances. But it could go to explain why certain bikes get votes and others do not.

I strongly agree! Thank you Kingfish for the encouragement, especially with a newbie builder. Much appreciated.

Choosing just 3 is impossible, There are so many fantastic bikes, I had to just choose what three I would love to have in my garage.

Looks like the number of votes is tracking slightly higher than last year. I think we hit 500 votes around 24 hours into voting followed by 100 votes per day after that.
I wonder if we will see any Facebook effect? It didn't seem like we did last year.

Kingfish I love ya... but maybe you better go play outside for a while

Sounds like some scientific phenomenon doesn't it. It's been discussed here before, but with the popularity of the RRB FB page, we wondered if there would be a jump in traffic here generated from there. I think it's opened up the forum to a group of people that may not have found it otherwise. And the Build Off is the perfect platform for that. I think Steve said he didn't notice any significant jump last year though.
