I am in the need to play catchup, with everything going on with this stupid station wagon,it has taken up my free time, and the gas has taken my spending money to operate this pig (my wife is driving my car, since it starts everytime) I changed the ignition switch buried in the column..it didn't fix it :x :? and I started getting vertigo while I was working on it , and I am still feeling the affects today. I did play with the dana a litle bit this weekend and it will work for sure ( thought I might have clearance issues) I orded a faux springer of an old hawthorne but either I wil have to get threads added or I am thinking of bending (kota style) the original. so now its time to get this thing rolling....

Sorry to here that GSC. Hope your situation improves.

Meanwhile, back at the umbrella factory...

These bars I have are brand new, never even been mounted. Not a scratch on 'em. heh heh heh. (can you guess where this is going?)

They were too wide in my opinion.

Looks pretty good there 450.

First of all, can anyone get me the outside diameter of a 24" s-5 hoop? Also the o.d. of a 24" s-2?

I want to mount these brakes with the capability to run any of the three (s-2, s-7, or s-2) whhels in 24".

I went to the lbs for brake bosses and they sold me a bag of goodies for $12. 2 different routes to go.

With these steel weld on bosses I got 3 of 1 style and one of a different style. Unfortuneately the oddball is the only one that works.

The one with three holes works (1 of) the other with one hole doesn't (3 of).

I can grind the essential shaft off all four and build my own sheet metal mounting 'ears' and weld the shaft to it or...

I have these which require a tap I don't have (I'm sure they are available) and a counter bored hole.

I figure either way is about the same amount of work but I think I can get better results with sheet metal.

Another peek with the narrowed bars. They still need one more small touch.

I actually got to do something Saturday, I did not like the cable setup on the DANA at all!! so I stated to tinker and came up with thisFirst gear...second gear.... third gear , which is a little tight on the down tube, so a little torch and bend is in the future....and I picked up this unknown springer missing a couple pieces mainly the top sping cap/connector and no its not bent ...just wierd it was a locking one at one time also...but I have plans

come on what self respecting musclecar ran a slush box it had better have a stick shifter of some kind :D :D

I hacked up the tin bosses so I was left with a small flat piece of 16 gauge with the boss shaft still attached.

I'm gonna make them all with 3 spring fixing holes so I made a template.

I made a little fixture to hold them in the mockup.

I'll make up a couple gussets like this.

I tacked on the front bosses, put the lever arms on and

FAIL!

Minor adjustment.

:| :| :| guess i'll have to live with it......

Back brakes are welded on and the shifter knob is almost done. She'll soon be ready for a quick sandblast and paint!
