This is my first build. My inspiration was a T-6G Texan, Air Force trainer from the early 50's. Why? I really like old airplanes and my dad learned to fly in one!
This is my first build. My inspiration was a T-6G Texan, Air Force trainer from the early 50's. Why? I really like old airplanes and my dad learned to fly in one! Here are the build details:
Frame: ebay. I don't know what it is. Anybody?
Seat: ebay. old Troxel
chain guard: bought from cman. don't know the make.
crank, stem, cruiser handlebars: choppersus.com
springer fork: chainganglowriders.com. I found the quality of this fork to be poor and the geometry is probably more suited to a chopper with a shallow head tube angle. I put a longer bolt through the spring and a spacer to try to improve the "trail".
Paint: Rustoleum sunburst yellow
Fabricated:
seat post: 5/8" steel rod with welded on brace
tanks and air scoop: wood
exhaust pipe: old vacuum cleaner tubing
headlight bracket: steel tubing, 1/8" steel bar bent into a circle to fit the steering tub, threaded rod
I forgot about the decals (calgrafx.com) and Air Training Command "headbadge" (militraygraphics.com).
I learned a lot from this build and am anxious to get on with the next one!
