TOC Truing or Display Stand?

Picked this up the other day. My guess is this is early 20th century based on the age of some other items In a collection I acquired.

Not sure if it's a truing stand or a display stand. Looks similar in construction to my Myers A frame stands. Unlike my A frames this does not collapse.

The cradles which support an axle are approximately 35 inches from the floor.
 
At 35 inches, my first thought was that it might have been used on a Penny-Farthing. But, there is a cross brace that limits the size of the wheel it can accommodate.
 
I vote display stand, but whatever it is, it is neat.

Great for use with a bike or would be awesome repurposed for something in a home!
 
It came from a shop that opened in 1909. My feeling is it's one of a pair used to elevate a bike for display on a showroom floor.
