So most of us know how suicide shifter front fork work. But has anyone tried to play around with the idea of a sturmey archer 3 speed with coaster brake for the front or a 2 speed bendex ? I just got a 1952 Bendex single on the front s-7. Work fine but just wondering...

I wouldn't think it would make any difference but why? The front wheel doesn't drive so it would mean using a good hub just for it's brake.

Don't you mean suicide brake front wheels where you use a coaster brake up front?

It seems to me that you have enough drag with the coaster hub in the rear. Putting one in the front will add more drag. You won't be able to get the thing going fast enough to need the front brake! Gary

I read the original post yesterday 3 times, I thought I was drunk!
Just get a drum brake front hub! Make a suicide brake lever.....

I like the idea of suicide brakes, but I find the notion of a multispeed cb hub as a front to be deliriously "meta". This thread gets my vote as the best of 2014, so far.
