Bring on the coppertone!

What kind of tape is that yellow tape? Don't tgink I've seen that before.

That is something I found at Walmart. Blue Dolphin Ultra Premium Washi (Rice Paper) tape. It has a wax paper feel too it. This was my first time using it. Easy to work with and seemed to do well. It is made in Japan. I guess it is a tape with a specialized "porpoise". :D

I love how you build your bike 247 times in 1 build.

That is the fun of it. Try something, take tons of pics, stare at it with your brain from every angle, try something different, rinse, repeat.

Dang! That took a minute or two to do, didn’t it?

Yes it did. And it's not like it's a complicated scheme, but it does involve the ENTIRE frame top and bottom.

I am really anxious to get some burnt copper on this baby. I would have tonight, but Queenfish wanted to go to Texas Road House. Wise choice, the steak was awesome as usual.

Is it voting time yet!? Sheeeshhh... What a stunner that frame is with those Mags. Pure Bliss :rockout:

Thanks man. I am looking forward to seeing how it all looks together with the finish work on all of the surfaces.

WOW!

Did this in the morning. I really like how this paint works. Just going with light coats. I just kept doing light coats, and flipping it with my top and bottom hanger hooks. It kept laying down nicely with no runs, so I kept at it with some pauses. Went through 2.25 cans semi continously then I hung it in the shop to dry.

Took these pics for @OddJob . I had to use a different spray can trigger for this style nozzle.

This paint sure is DEEP. (And It Cold Too! :D )

Looks great!
It reminds me of the color that I used on the 'Smart Bike' that I built a few years ago. Except that I used a matte black two tone.

I'm sure that you remember this one!:wink1:

Time to move on to the other parts. While thinking through how all of the parts would be playing together when assembled, I decided that there was gonna be too much silver up front, so I decided to paint the springer fork front leg section Coppertone.

The main fork legs will remain mostly silver with a coppetone accent section. I also painted the rocker arms coppertone.

Then I tool my parts to my office to have a better surface to work on the tape masking layout.

First I did the main fork legs. I am going to have the lower 4-5" coppertone similar to Higgins springers like I did on Western Sizzler last year.

Here is the Holey Higgins rear rack in it's Silver form

Earlier, I had stopped off at the paint shop and picked up some of the 1/8" blue line striping tape.

I freehanded the layout just trying to do something that flowed right with the lines and contours of the rack.

I did the same for the other side with only minimal caliper measurement comparisions from side to side to make sure I was in the same ballpark for the spacing of the designs. Once I was happy with the blue vinyl tape, I did overlapping masking with the Japanese rice paper tape. I really like both of these tapes a lot!!!

I think I did a decent job with the symmetry and flow of the design.
