I simply couldn't resist this purchase either. What was really FUN is this one is a bit ratty due to use. Both my son and I got up and going on the second try. He put more laps on than I did but we both had a lot of FUN! The rear tire has some serious rot and the whole bike needs a good clean up.

I've been looking at this image for some inspiration and also thinking about a trike rear end attachment with some motorization.

Jet engines seem appropriate for some reason... Probably because they're FUN!

wondering if instead of the motor on the front you use one of those designed for the rear wheel. Not sure of the name but they use a pressure roller to propel the back wheel. Then you could always add steam punk decoration.

A friction drive. http://www.instructables.com/id/Weed-Eater-motor-BikeFriction-Drive/

I have a polan 4 stroke 25cc in a box. The gearing against that tiny wheel would require a jack shaft and some gears. What about some big electric ducted fans hanging below the front axle centerline?

Back here in Holland,we had the Solex (see below). It's little engine also worked with a frictionroll on the frontwheel. With the lever (just in front of the handlebar),you could pull the engine off the wheel.
When we were young,we used to mount the engine on a children's scooter, with the roll on the backwheel. Awesome. So the idea of constructing something similar, isn't too bad.
I'm not sure,if Solex was sold in the U.S.,but in 2005,a French company started to produce the same mopeds under the name of "Black 'n Roll".

Thats the original fixie. All the hipsters will be soooo jelly.

I need to find a solid 12" rear tire/wheel. The tire that is on there is dry rotted. A solid tire would make running a friction drive easier.

This build is already FUN..

You really should dress period of the bike and find some hipsters and talk about how your more original or whatever and put it on youtube. would be hilarious.

I'm all set on this... But I'm not having much luck finding a 12" solid tire yet. :D

I just joined up here. I'm building a Penny Farthing from scratch. I need to start a post here I just haven't decided the best way to do it. I've been going for a little over a year now. You can see my progress here. http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=3504.0 I'll try and start a topic on it this weekend.
