Okay, I am officialy sick!

Just spent my lunch hour running to thrift stores to see if I can find my first project bike. Project meaning complete tear down and rebuild.

I happened to find a baby blue Schwinn Sunbeam. It looks like something a profesor wearing a courderoy jacket with those elbow patches would ride around a college campus. Anyway, it's complete. The chain, sprockets and derealer have surface rust on them. The seat is pretty ripped. The tires are cracked and crumbling. Asking $20 for the bike. I probably would have bought it but I wouldn't be able to fit it in my Scion xB. So it still sits there.

Has anyone done one of these? The tires are so skinny and I am so big, I am afraid that if I turned the corner with them, I am going to fold them over. Got pictures? Should I buy or leave it there?

I don't think Schwinn made a bike called a Sunbeam.

There was a British company that made them many moons ago.

I bet it is a Suburban, if it has the Schwinn headbadge.
