A friend of mine just snatched up an old ladies Schwinn off of a truck, headed for the scrap yard in Chicago... Can you believe it! he flagged down the driver and bought it for $10! It has the locking fork with the key and it all works great!
The key is a Yale & towne and reads " made in USA for arnold schwinn and co. Chicago"
My friend removed the original tank and fenders to clean it up a bit... He didn't have them on when I took these pics.
But he has them!

The serial number is on the underside of th bottom bracket and reads G395104

I'm not a Schwinn expert and could use some help identifying this bike

also... the front wheel is an obvious replacement, but... is the rear New Departure model D hub an original to this bike?

Any help would be much appreciated.

October 17, 1950. I don't know what model. That's a really nice find though. Great color.

I love a story with a Happy Ending....That Truck driver probably thought he was getting Jacked...
