Re: Rusty Sears Screamer Hunt Is Over

Very slick wheel there Jaxon.

I was sorta thinking of dropout extender that incorporated a wheelie bar.
Then running 24x3 wheelset.
Either or Spoiler front fork.

Re: Rusty Sears Screamer Hunt Is Over

Pulled everything out of the box today. Like I said this baby is RUSTY!!!!!!!
I bought this with my heart and not my head and I didn't ask hardly any questions about it before I said SHIP IT.

Biggest disappointment is the seat pan. It has it's shape, but there are major holes and gaps. I think there are ways to skin it underneath, but I am not sure how.

Rear seat reflector is in great shape.

Serial number for this Screamer 1 is "50 . 4753703109 . 8" . I am not sure about the " . " dots in the number. The first one almost looks like a mis-strike with the upper part of a 3 hit down a good bit lower than the rest of the numbers.

Seatpost is broke free and seat tube looks good.

Frame is rusty but solid. Actually still has some paint under the rust. All of the joints look good.

It is going to take some MAJOR work to get this crank removed!!!!! Extremely frozen!

I think it is also going to take some MAJOR work to get the fork removed. Not only is the stem frozen, but the entire fork is frozen.
The forks do have the side reflectors. I figure these might be worth something??????

Handlebars are rusty, but sold. Only a little bit of a two rust hole on one side.

Rear wheel is probably shot. It is completey frozen. But it is only missing one spoke. :)

Chainguard is actually in much better shape than I expected.

Shifter casing is in good shape, The guts are in pretty good shape, but the pivot point is frozen and bit to far gone.

Even though the sissy bar is rusted, it is also solid. I didn't remember the double hook holders on my Screamer 2. They are in good shape too.

Double rear brakes are in pretty good and comple shape.

Rear fender's chrome is shot, but fender is solid.

I took a load of photos to document what I have and what condition. Here they come.........

Seems like you have some work ahead of you, but it sounds like the important stuff is salvagable, providing you can get the forks free of course...
Should be a great project! I wouldn't mind having a go at it myself...

Luke.

It is definitely a project. Those forks and BB concern me the most. Already covered in PB Blaster, but it's gonna take a LOT more than that to break this free.

Re: Rusty Sears Screamer Hunt Is Over - PHOTO HEAVY

If anyone has any secret tricks for the BB or FORKs, please share.
I am already periodically putting PB Blaster on it.
I also imaging that I am going to have to put some heat to it too.
It may even require some sort of cutting.

Re: Rusty Sears Screamer Hunt Is Over - PHOTO HEAVY

Gonna be a cool build. Definitely gonna need a vise. Hope you got a good one. More than likely will have to cut the stem/gooseneck off and go from there. Very surprised to see that both of the black plastic caps are still on that derailleur. Everyone into the musclebikes are always looking for those.
