Just realized that the Coasters BC Tandem night is less than 2 weeks out. Looks like may just have to get it finished up enough to ride.

I enjoy sitting on the driveway at 8:30 in the morning enjoying a cold beer and working on bikes. Third shift has its perks.

Yesterday these were shiny chrome. After using an ancient bottle of Snake Oil originally sold to a sod buster shortly his untimely death. I found it in a tiny antique sale along a hi-way in Texas years ago. Perfect.

I had some spoke length issues and drive issues as well with the Atom. While I sort that out I re-laced the Sachs Doumatic after a cleaning and lube.

Laced, trued and mounted

Chrome and Steel

Add in a bit of copper.

Profilin'

True.

That finish reminds me of a well worn gun that has lost its bluing. Awesome job.

I had my first Shiner Bock a few weeks ago when I was down in AZ. Nice drinking beer on a hot day.

This is a great build. I would like to do a tandem sometime as I have never had one.

The macro photos are cool. I love close up work... so much interest when you get in close. It can be quite abstract too which I like.

I spent some time in the garage this morning. Got the ratty headlight mounted. Mounted a RRB Member Plate on the seat stays. I took pics, but my camera battery died. Now you gotta wait for it to charge.

Now I need to decide on tires.

Current Black Old School Big Block Knobbies or I have a pair whitewalls with the same tread

Red Small block

Or Brick Red Goodyear tread

And don't get me started on saddles. :roll:

Here is this morning's work. Light mounted and prepped for LED conversion. My love of oversized headlight is evident if you visit some of my old build threads.

Here is my Official Rat Rod Bikes Membership card.

This evening I modified a set of dog leg truss bars that were original to my '34 Rollfast and got them mounted on the tandem. Pics of that will have to wait until tomorrow. I am really leaning toward the black shoes she has been wearing.

I found an old G.I. flashlight at a garage sale this morning for $1. It still had the colored lenses in the base. Tomorrow I will work on mounting it as a tail light and converting it to LED as well.

Been busy with life the past couple days- Graduations, brakes on the Chevy...

In the little down time I have had I managed to mount these dog-leg truss rods from my '34 Rollfast with minimal modification.

They flow well with the fork.

I also found this G.I. flashlight at a garage sale for $1. Still had the lenses and everything!

After a LED conversion I will build a mount so it will serve as the tail light.
