Re: ***QuickSilver and the blood sacrifice.

I was cutting some thick sheet metal with my angle grinder with a cut-off wheel. Wheel snagged and shattered and I caught some shrapnel.

The lessons-
1. Don't operate power tools without the guards in place.
2. A heavy pair of leather gloves is also a good idea.

I cringe every time I see a grinder or cut off without the guard on it for this reason.

My shop would make you cringe.

I cringe everytime I shatter a cutoff wheel and pieces glance my... umm... ball bearings.

Since yesterday was cut short I didn't get to give you a proper post. Fittingly,I guess, yesterday's mayhem was brought to you by Rogue Dead Guy Ale, dedicated to the rogue in all of us.

Those of you have followed some of my prior builds know I have an affinity for big head lights. Before my altercation with my grinder I got this mounted on the bike.

Looks like that hurt. Better your hand than your face. At least you're still pretty from the neck up!
I hope you heal up soon.

Re: ***QuickSilver and the blood sacrifice.

I'm liking the no tank look, but I know the compulsion to put on a tank, tank bikes seem to draw a crowd. This is really an understated look and I'm liking it. I know what you mean about the details.

I never wear gloves while grinding or cutting (or around anything that rotates). Seen to many broken fingers from getting a glove wrapped up in machinery... I do always wear safety glasses.

Great looking bike, Rg

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

I took the bike out for some road testing and to try and figure out what I still need to do to set it apart. I like my builds to be simple with small things that set the above everything else in the bike rack. Enjoy the pics from the ride.
The Sunshine makes the bike look white in the pic.

The bars and stem will be replaced before it is all said and done.

The front doors of the old high school make for good afternoon shots.

You gotta look at it from all angles.

gremlin-
Noun:
An imaginary mischievous sprite regarded as responsible for an unexplained problem or fault, esp. a mechanical or electronic one.
Now everyone knows gremlins are afraid of bells so this is here to keep them off the bike.

Just parked on a bridge a couple blocks from the house.

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

Looks like a complete bike to me!!!!
Awesome build. I look forward to seeing the extra detail touches you add to it.

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

 your bike is wicked in every way!!! Don't give in to the tank if you really don't want one! I think it looks sharp without!!
Love the gremlin bell!! Have one on my scoot!

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

I think the wood tank will detract from the bike and I haven't found what I am looking for to make my own steel tank, so it is looking like it will remain tankless...for now. I am going to schedule a time to get with my pin striper and turn him loose on it. Might reassess the tank after that.

This doesn't need a freaky bunny bump, but it does need a "here's the competition" bump for inspriation.

Anything new on this build?

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

I have a similar bike. I'm gonna use a plexi glass tank with vinyl decals. The pvc tank idea is good also. So is no tank at all. Build it like You want to! Peace

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

Just my .02 worth: I like it like it in it's present state! But what do I know??? Great build Cameron!

Re: ***QuickSilver Road Testing***

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I am getting close to done but have been busy working on my truck project. Some of the items left to be completed:
1. Bars- I am not feeling the bars that are on there now. They are comfortable, but they dont fit the bike. I may narrow them by 6" or swap them all together.
2. Pin Striping
3. Needs something else to make it pop, just don't know what yet.
