 wanna sell it?

Re: PROJECT 65 DELUXE RACER

Usually the inside of the forks show the color as it was new, before it faded. There's no difference on that fork. Was that bike kept indoors under a cover?

Re: PROJECT 65 DELUXE RACER

Hey Wildcat...I think you are correct about this one being kept indoors.

A few things I noticed about this bike that makes me think that is true...

1. There was zero rust or dirt inside the BB hanger.
2. Almost zero oxidation on the chrome except for some superficial surface rust.
3. Grease in bearings throughout bike looks old, but not dried out.

Yes...I'm always grateful for 45 years of dedication by someone else.

A little Simple Green bath for the greasy stuff...

Amazing what some dish soap, water and a scrub brush will do...

Looking good...I made the mistake of using some carb cleaner one bay to clean a Bendix hub. Goodbye paint stripe....won't do that again. i love Simple Green. Use it a bunch.

Re: PROJECT 65 DELUXE RACER

You repainted the stripes ??

Re: PROJECT 65 DELUXE RACER

Actually I fudged a little..had the wheel turned around in the after shot.

Re: PROJECT 65 DELUXE RACER

Okay...heeded Hooch's reminder and contacted Larry at Memory Lane Classics today.

He had a Coppertone lightweight seat that was in good shape, but the white was wearing off.

He also had a stencil for the "S" and told me to buy some white vinyl paint from Napa and I could fix it up good as new.

This is a bit of a gamble since I'm taking his word that the rest of it is in good shape.

So for $40 shipped I get a seat, a stencil and another restoration project.
