Found this at Goodwill this week for 8 bucks. It might make a cool fixed gear project. The rear suspension bushings are shot. I think I'll be able to figure out something though. Does anyone out there have any experience with these bikes?

If nothing else, it has a Girvin Flexstem that I will definitely use on something.

8 bucks? sweet deal. clean it up and ride that puppy!

Nice find and even nicer price. If you are going to do it as a fixed gear you will need a chain tensioner like one of these http://shop.yesspro.com/ because when the suspension compresses the chain will go slack. Good luck. I think it would make a sweet fixie.

My LBS used to sell those when I got into mountain biking. I've worked on a lot of ProFlex's. I'm guessing it's a 91 model.

The elastomers (rubber bits that get compressed) only last a few years, so you might have to improvise some replacements with rubber bushings or somthing. Also the rear brake isn't very powerful because of the linkage.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a fixie, but it does offer one interesting possibility: you could make a rigid spacer to replace the elastomer and size it to maintain the proper chain tension. An adjustable rigid spacer would be ideal.

Good luck!
