Got this bike with a bunch of others, was told it was a pre-war. The guy I bought them from was some kind of amateur leather guy, because all the saddles and grips had been re-covered. The serial I got: E83115-53

I hope you don't weigh much. That seat post looks like it would fold if you hit a big bump. Gary
 
The seat post is solid, don't know why it's got that notch in it.

Thanks for the year info, I'm a little disappointed, but no big deal. I bought four bikes from this guy but really only wanted one of them. This one is probably going up for sale soon.
 
There should be a 'Cw' after 53. The small w is partially inside the C. Also, the blue & red M/W badge was used 1950 and later. -Adam
