Need headlight help

I got a old Union bullet headlight that i would like to convert to a battery light from generator.. is there anyone who can help explain a simple process of doing this.. I have seen the other post of the Led flashlight in the old case.. but i want to do something with a on/off switch... if it helps i can post pictures of my light for referance..
