Hello All,

I just celebrated my 52nd birthday and
registered on this forum over the weekend,
some may recognize me from other forums. I've
got 5 running bikes for every situation, closest to
a rat rod would be my Schwinn Deluxe 7 kind of a
factory ratted Phantom with it's alloy stem, post & rims,
along with it's 7 speed hub. This +60lb monster is a pleasure
to ride. Weighing in at about 17lbs is my composite trek with
huret jubilee derallier and modolo kronos brakes. It was my century
bike when I did em. Trek mtb w/handmade usa frame takes whatever
you give it. Schwinn stingray bfk krate just for fun and an old flying star
made by Schwinn for the ladies. In the back is a '83 Klien and a '56 Schwinn
straight bar, I may rat rod them or restore them to their former glory.
Hope to learn a lot from you all.

Cheers.

Welcome Bill.
Cool Bikes!

happy belated birthday.

Cool bikes! I've got family in Montgomery county and was just down a bit west of you in York and Lancaster counties this weekend with my band, and fell in love with the farm land out there! Beautiful riding country!

Welcome! Looks like a nice frame against the shed, to RAT.

Welcome BIll. We would like to hear and see some more of your Newer Schwinn 7..

Hello FaceOFFbikes,

The Deluxe 7, is super nice, after years of riding road bikes, my back
was begging for more upright riding, I started off with single speed crusier.
Well I needed speed choices and with this shimano nexus 7 speed hub & grip shifter
this machine maintains a clean look. I have 152 miles on this bike and it continues to
preform really well. The seat looks nice but------so I put a old brooks on it, which was great
but the the 43yr old brooks finally broke so I need another.Retail on these is $699 --wow--
3 months ago is was only $519. Memory Lane Bikes was offering attractive pricing before
the holiday season so you should check them out to possibly save a little dough-re-mi.
The front light is fine for my purposes and I use it a lot. I don't use the horn but I did put
a bell on to alert pedestrains I'm comming. I also Installed a wirelesss cyclocomputer
and rear LED light for nighttime. After the Holidays I'm gonna install a larger front chainring.
Here are a couple of photos.

Cheers.

Eventho it is a repro.. I think it is real nice. Isn't schwinn still selling them for regular price?

Hello FaceOFFbikes,

Sure enough the 2009 Schwinn retail price is $699.
The 2008 schwinn retail price was $519.
Memory Lane is{was} offering 07's and 08's for $479 but
they arent listing the price on their site anymore.
The front fender should really be a few inches longer in the front
and the light housing is now plastic---bit of a bummer.
It doesnt really show up but both the black and white paint
is pearlescent and nice. I am considering a front drum brake
and new brooks seat a 135 or a 190.

If I ever get my Hornet done I'll Install a nexus 7 or 8 speed on it
They look pretty correct{as opposed to a derallier} and they make
riding these things a real pleasure. I did 12 miles on the deleware
canal towpath yesterday last autumn ride I think.

Cheers.
