I picked up a 1900's bike last week (for the tires and some other bits). the wheels are metal clad wood. One is in ok shape but on the other the metal cladding is rusty and falling off in places. Has anyone ever stripped off the metal cladding and just run them as wood only? I know there are wood only wheels, just wondering if maybe those are built stronger?
