before: photo taken the day i bought it.
i'm really going to keep this build simple, mild, and hopefully classy. I'll be playing to my strengths which i guess is paint... but again mostly mild. sort of a board tracker meets the 60's (and accouterments).
I'll be painting it black with flake in the clear coat. i'll post a good step by step when i get there. white lugs with a red detail on the lug edges.
as far as other mods go i've found a 3 speed racer style seat in black and white zodiac vinyl that will be on it, and i'll flip the bars.
the other thing that bothers me about this bike is the jumbled mess of wires and cables. i'll get some good shiny cable clips. but i'm going to try and run the wires through the frame.
here's my first few torn down / striping and priming pics.
this is my least favorite step... maybe one day i'll get "spendy" enough to pay the machine shop to blast a frame.
after striping i sand the metal down as smooth as i can get it. i aim for getting a good polish with 800 or better.
here's a shot of how silky smooth a couple coats of acid etch primer will look... i love that stuff.
here's a couple of mock up shots.
oh and p.s. going to go with white rubber.
