Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (In The Country)

Some shots from today's ride. Rode around in the country with a stop in a small town for lunch. Turned out to be a nice 31 mile ride.

Old farm truck.

Seasoning your bread. Yeah it's actually done in the field not the bakery.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. We crossed paths at a couple different fields miles apart.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (casino, river and cemetery)

You have great timing Randy! Cool Short
It's great that you're getting lots of miles in
Looks like the river is up and everything is green, nice!

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

Thanks for the comments guys.

Here's a video from a 28 mile rail-to-trail ride in the Flint Hills yesterday http://youtu.be/sFnl1cjAvfw

More info on the ride here.

Trying to keep better track of my rides since I joined the National Bike Challenge http://www.endomondo.com/profile/9882255
Anyone else doing this?

nova, rocking the bar ends, like a boss. i miss mine.

that post office looked very sturdy.

great work as always.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

tonight i rolled my FatWally through the sand volleyball court at the park. it did amazingly well, staying afloat, and i could even steer without digging in. i tried to duplicate your attempt to start pedaling from a dead stop, and had the same result you did. it's just geared too tall to get going from a stop in the sand. my tires were really muddy, and then after i rolled thru the sand they looked like giant cinnamon sugar doughnuts. om nom nom.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

Thanks Bill, Jerry.
Bill FWIW I had 20t sprocket on it at the time I tried to ride the sand. Also quite a bit of pressure in the tires.

Going on a little adventure here soon. Hope to have some cool stuff to post.

Roadside adjustment the other night.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

i'm planning to go 32t front, 24t rear, which is the same ratio i end up riding my 29er mtb in all the time. and i think i could have dropped pressure some too. i still don't have a gauge that could come close to doing a good job of measuring my pressure, though, so i could even know where i started and what i got to.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Pedalers Jamboree)

Just got home from being on the road for a week doing a couple of rides in Missouri, and Illinois. I'm so far behind on editing photos and videos and reading this forum.

First on this trip was the Pedaler's Jamboree on the KATY trail in Missouri over Memorial weekend. It was our first time attending and it was a great time. You ride 30+ miles on the KATY trail from one town to another with bands playing at different locations along the way. You camp overnight and then repeat in reverse the next day. We chose to reserve a hotel instead of camping though. We rode around 76 miles over the 2 day period. Here's a few photos. Hope to have video edited in the near future. Even more photos here.

great pictures, can't wait for the videos.

(also chomping at the bit for my own retirement in a couple of years) :D

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

randy, that looks like a fun time. i'm hoping that the people working on the NE Texas Trail can get some momentum and that there can be events like that down here before i die.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Flint Hills)

It looks like everyone had a great time! What a fun and wacky event :D
Checked out all the pics on your website 8) Looking forward to the video too

I'm trying to figure out (in the 5th pic)if that's an actual person, washed out in the light,
or a ghost, or a statue at the end of the tunnel, and what they are doing ??

some people said they felt a cool breeze there, and some people swore they smelled aqua velva aftershave, and another recalled something about his father that he hadn't thought of in a long time as they all passed through that spot. but nobody saw a person standing there.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Pedalers Jamboree)

Thanks guys.

Steve I hadn't paid much attention to that photo. Now that I look it is kinda creepy. Just someone washed out in the light. I'll take you on a ride through that tunnel and another one once I get videos from the rides done.

Bill thanks for posting the link on the NETT FB page.

Jerry I might warn you... After retiring I found out there was a direct link between having a job and having money  Nova's eligible to retire for but lucky for me she decided to continue to work.
