Well, here it is. The build thread is here viewtopic.php?f=67&t=56607
What I started with
About halfway through
And how it is now
Parts list:
Frame & forks - 1961 Schwinn Tiger
Wheels – Huffy
Tires - 26 x 2.35
Seat – Next mountain bike
Handle bars and grips – Ross road bike
OPCrank – Schwinn
Chain-ring – Ross(?) women’s bike
Chain guard – Ross(?) women’s bike
Tanks – flea market Schwinn copy
Headlight- combo Nirve led and brass egg
Taillight – led, from old rearview mirror parts
Light switches – pull-chain activated by brake levers
Pedal – cheap Schwinn bow copies
Paint – Rustoleum Fern green and Antique white, Plasticoat clear, Rustoleum vinyl for seat, grips, and pedals
Headbadge – “Junk Bros.” by Bro. Rg
Pinstriping by Ragged “Ol’ Shaky” Jim
Misc. assorted springs, acorn nuts, bolts, rust, bondo, and penetrating fluid
All work done by me, all mistakes are mine. Since I bought the Tiger for $25 and had most of the parts already, I probably have about $100 total once all the paint and those expensive acorn nuts are all added up. IF I got paid, let’s say $10 dollars an hour, then this would be my most expensive bike… but since I enjoyed every minute of it (well, except the part where I had to re-strip the tanks and frame because I screwed up the clearcoat…) it was worth the time invested.
Good luck to everyone! There’s some awesome bikes that got built this year.
