It is a June 1968 Lemon Peeler.

I am fixing this up for a friend. It was his when he was a kid and he wants to fix it up for his son. Most all the parts are there, but will need major cleaning and repair. So far as I can tell the things I will have to buy are tires, tubes, seat(at least a recover) Brake and shifter lines. The front fork needs a replacement bolt. Somebody rigged it with some odd bolt. This bike even has the suspension seat post in addition to the suspension sissy bar.
Currently has a twenty inch front tire, but he still had the atom drum 16" wheel

Items I need to replace:
20" S-2 Slick tire
16" S-7 tire
Maybe new grips
Cables
Seat(at least a recover)
Maybe a front fender
etc...???

Re: Lemon Peeler Showed up Today!

That's just grungy enough to create the WOW Factor when you're done.

Re: Lemon Peeler Showed up Today!

Good to see you finally got it. Unless he wants a front fender, I'd leave it alone, 68's were naked up front. Talk to Jeff next Saturday if he comes to the ride, he may just have some tires or seat for you. I think 68 seat colors are different than the later years.

Re: Lemon Peeler Showed up Today!

That sounds right, that pic of the original was confusing me  . The 68's had studded rear tires, but I'd just slap a repop stingray slick on there. Can't wait to see some progress pics.

Re: Lemon Peeler - Resto Finally Started!

Almost a year later and I am finally starting on this one. This thing is in pretty rough shape. It is going to take a lot of effort to get it up and running again.

Got the frame cleaned up. Lots of dings in the paint, but I want to keep it original.

Good things take time. Lookin' good so far! I think you are making a wise decision to keep it original . . . they’re that way only once!

I will be watching this :D Nice bike

Re: Lemon Peeler - Resto Finally Started!

Cleaned up the rear wheel tonight. This is taking a ridiculous amount of effort...but it turned out pretty nice. There was about a pound of dirt jammed in the gears. Topped it off with a new slick.
