Instead of many different threads for my finds I decided to just make one for this and everyone of my future finds.

Today I just got this Murray Mercury bicycle, yes it is a ladies bike but I really like it and for the price I payed it was worth it.

wow, is that clean. A little polishing compound on the chainguard and tank and you got a beauty there!

Yeah, she said she got it years ago at some youth sale but I don't remember where it was at and it wasn't here in Florida, it was painted over but I noticed that they only painted most of the bike but left it original where the decals are.


Also someone did a weld on the handlebar & stem before she got it that looks like it is staying that way because I noticed a crack in the weld, it needs a lens & the inside cleaned.

Does anyone know what company had a 26 & a diamond on the cap of the pedals?

No one knows about the pedals?

Does anyone have any info on these bikes including an ad or catalog pics, model and so on because I have looked but the entire internet gives me the run around on any info?

I looked at the serial number section it says 1959 but it doesn't have the same frame as the ones in the 1959 Murray pics I have seen.

I also put batteries into the light but nothing happened so any help on that too would be appreciated and I think the bulb was good so I just don't know?

Those are Union pedals, made in Germany, probably from the late 60s-early 70s. They built Schwinn pedals too. The bike is a bit of a head scratcher. The frame, tank, badge,and rack do suggest 59ish. But the chainguard is more 62-up ish. The bendix red band hub is 61 or later, but it looks to be a Schwinn S-2 rim with the knurling down the center! Bit of a franken bike methinks! -Adam

I already knew the wheels & pedals were not original but I wasn't sure about the chainguard.

I tried to put in batteries in the light but it didn't light up, the bulb looked fine but I don't know since this is the first old light.

Any cleaning tips for the light will help out a lot?

Needs bare metal at the points of contact, rust isn't a very good conductor. You can check the bulb easily enough by touching wire to the threads and the far end of the battery. :|

I went to an antique store today I saw 3 mini 58 Plymouth wagons and they were $5 each but I didn't have much so I got one, one was black & the other I think was blue but I can't remember right now and one lost it's windows though.

Does anyone know about them because they don't have a name on them and are these promos or something and they do have small details like the sidetrim & the wheels have the hubcap details plus a afew others?

Well I know it is not a promo but it's an HO Scale by a company called Athearn so I guess it's for a train set.

WOW looks like repop S-2's on that mercury,very hard to find.I know a guy with a set off an 80's schwinn cruiser who still wont come off them,darn.
they single knurled the repop 26" S-2's ive seen,looks like you gotem??

Single knurled S-2 rims were the ones made in Hungary for a short time in the late 80's or 90's. They put them on the "new" cruiser bikes and also sold laced front wheels. I bought 6 of the loose wheels, relaced them onto my hubs and put them on the cruisers I was restoring at the time. They are tubular, made the same as the originals, they just have one knurling strip instead of 2. Gary

All I know is they are Schwinn wheels, the rear says Tubular but nothing else inside I guess that is the knurled part (Forgive me I heard that a few times but I never seen what they were talking about and I am newer to older bikes.) and the front has Schwinn Tubular in the center but I see the top part of an S but nothing else so I don't know and the front has thicker & bigger spokes than the rear does.


Also the person that painted the bike left the original decals then clear over them but painted the rest of the bike, the weld in it is because the handlebars are loose then someone did a small weld over it but is coming off and I forgot the grips say Flexgrip Pat Pending on them.

Just a few parts I got at the Flea Market that I could only afford, they had A lot of nice parts & Bicycles including a 70's Ladies AMF, some Vinese Huffy but had an interesting frame & parts at the place I went to get these parts from and another place that had a 70's/80's Ladies Huffy lightweight an early 90's Murray mountain bike and a 70's Mens Schwinn 3 speed but all three were spray painted over most of them but very lightly in comparison to the Ladies Rollfast I got last year.


The parts are a $5 Wald headset 4080, $5 Wald 1990 bottom bracket which they had a few more but no more money after the kids yellow & black Super Siren Bicycle Alarm number 102 with no date made in Taiwan judging by the box it's 70's/80's in the box for $5 but it is missing the mounting hardware so I have to figure how to get it on.

Late 90's Murray Valiant Classic which I didn't pay much for it, has everything except the original red with white stripe fenders and it's rusty mostly on the fork and everything else seems ok but dirty.

Also someone replaced the original rear wheel or just the rim because it has left over rubber from brakes and it has been rode hard by the looks of it.

Last week I got this 1957 Plymouth from tootsie toys, I read they were made in 59 to early 60's but I can't remember exact.

Thanks to Tin Machine I got this very nice rack, I haven't decided on what to use it on either my Christine bike or my Spaceliner/Gateliner.

It will most likely will go to the Spaceliner because I have an idea if it's possible, the center hole for a light I could buy one of those Stargate drink coasters to out in it with a light shining from under the little gate that should look something like this with the light on.
