jc higgins made in england?

Just picked this higgins up prvious owner repainted it 6 years ago but still had the headbadge! I'm curious if any one has any info on it on its maker? From what I've found possibly hercules? Any idea on year or how to decode serial numbers on it?

Don't know about 'em, but this one has been for sale in St. Louis for a while. Cool chainring.Might not be as old as yours.

Sweet thanks! I read that they switched from England to another maler but not in what order and years. So I'm guessing by that link its mid 50s

From what I've found possibly hercules?

The fork crown looks like the one on the Hercules I just missed on CL. And possibly the crank/chainwheel.

As a kid, I had one of those Austrian Higgins 3-speeds. Wish I had it now. Wish I had that Herc for $25 too.
