My first thought on the "big" one was: "who is making 36" bicycle tires?" :)[/q

And where can we get them? wheels too?

This may even be fun with a 26"/24" set of wheels. Seems to be a simple build (says the non-welder), does anyone make a freewheel tricycle/unicycle hub? You may be able to source parts from a Coker Wheelsman.....just brainstormin'
If not, it's kind of like a chainless fixie

I wish them well and all, but I'm seeing a number of practical problems here:

1) pedals are behind the seat. Hello, maximum riding discomfort? Or are you just supposed to stand on the pedals all the time?
2) 1:1 hub is not useful. Even city riders want to hit 20-25 MPH now and then, without hitting a 140 RPM cadence to do it.
3) no place to lock bike up effectively! (no holes in frame)

I'm not an urbanite myself, but I would think that a folding kickbike with 12"-16" wheels would be more useful than this thing would.

My brother knows the guy who built this bike. He posted pictures of himself riding it on another site. The bike was built as an art project and apparantly someone thinks it may me marketable. My bro said the ride was weird and scary. Sometimes you get on a new ride and you think 'oooh, weird and scary' but that goes away as your brain and body adjust. Nope- just sayed weird and scary the whole time he was riding it around. So I guess as a bike it makes a good art project.

Hmmmm, I got a front freewheeling crank. I bet a few mods could make something work on that.

Coker came up with the 36" tires for the Wheelman penny-farthing bicycle. Then the came out with unicycles and a monster cruiser using the same tire. The unicycles took off, and several other people make rims and tires in those sizes.

The normal unicycle wheel is fixed gear. The Wheelman had a coaster function in it, though.

Who besides Coker makes 36" wheels and tires? I NEED names and, possibly, a link?

Here's a couple of 36" Nimbus rims down on this page:

Edit: Also a "Wheel TA" or Wheelman TA tire down on this page.

I learned to ride a unicycle two or three years go, read up on them a lot, but then kind of dropped out of it. It looks like Qu-Ax also made a 36" unicycle at some point, but no longer does. I'm not sure if they made their own rims and tires to go with it. And I was thinking there was one or two others, but searching isn't turning up anything. I posted the question on a unicycle board, I'll see what they know as well.

I was looking for something else entirely, ran across another bike and thought of this topic-

The cranks share the same axle but the rear wheel here is geared up, so it's not -quite- the same.
