Picked this up not too long ago, the owner didn't know much about it, told me it was an old schwinn but I would like to know more because he wasn't even positive about that. No badges and I haven't found a serial number . Any ideas or suggestions?

looks like a modern bike to me. possible someone's "build". only thing that looks Schwinn is the chainring. I like it.

Yeah starting to think the same thing. Still a score for $100, brainstorming some ideas for a complete rusty-rat makeover

Nice find Arkos.
I think what have there might be an old Evans or Rollfast frame and possibly tank.
The rear drop outs were my first clue with the two fender/rack/guard mount holes behind axle.
It's hard to tell from the pic,but if that's a metal tank it would be a real nice bonus.
Here are a couple threads that might help.

The dropouts sure look like Evans. Definitely not a Schwinn bike and the tank looks like it doesn't fit or is missing the light assembly.
